Genesis has a new “alter ego” it’s about ready to unleash. The first vehicle from its new high-performance brand, the GV60 Magma, is launching next year. With its official debut just around the corner, we are finally seeing the new Genesis GV60 Magma for the first time after it was spotted out in the wild.
Genesis GV60 Magma spotted ahead of 2025 launch
The Magma brand signals “the brand’s expansion into the realm of high-performance vehicles.” Genesis introduced the subbrand in March, showcasing several new concepts
Genesis confirmed the GV60 Magma will be the first vehicle from the new series, set to launch in 2025. The GV60 is the luxury brand’s first dedicated EV, launched in 2021. Although the GV60 has received several slight upgrades over the years, the Magma treatment will be by far its biggest.
The electric SUV is due for a high-performance upgrade with an upgraded battery and motor. Genesis also fine-tuned the design, chassis, and thermodynamics for better control and high-speed performance.
On the outside, you can immediately see the Magma model sits lower to the ground for an improved center of gravity. It also gains a wider front fascia and added air intakes, roof fins, and new tires.
The inside gets just as much of an overhaul with exclusive Magma branding, orange sports car-like bucket seats with double-diamond stitching, and Nappa and suede leather.
Ahead of its official debut, the Genesis GV60 Magma was spotted out in public for the first time, showing off its upgraded design. The new video from HealerTV reveals the new two-line headlight design shown on the updated GV60 model, which has also been caught testing ahead of its 2025 debut.
The big difference is the front bumper. Despite the camouflage, you can see the Magma model’s front has a very similar shape to the concept.
From the side, it features black Magma exclusive wheels and orange brake calipers, adding to the sporty look. The high-performance version is also expected to gain a rear spoiler, as shown in the concept. However, it’s hard to see it under the camouflage.
Genesis is expected to officially launch the GV60 Magma next year in Korea, followed by Europe and other markets. Production is scheduled to begin in Q3 2025.
According to Genesis, the GV60 Magma will “closely resemble the concept model.” It will be followed by a series of high-performance vehicles, including the G80 EV Magma, a potential Tesla Model S Plaid challenger.
For those in the US, if you can’t wait for the Magma to drop, the 2025 Genesis GV60 gained a new AWD trim that’s $5,000 cheaper than the previous model.
