The Spice Girls have released an anniversary video marking 30 years since their very first auditions back in 1994.

The British pop group formed three decades ago, taking the nation, and charts, by storm with their music.

Composed of Victoria Adams (now Beckham), Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell (now Horner), Melanie Brown (aka Mel B) and Melanie Chisholm (Mel C), the group have released a video marking the anniversary of their auditions.

Set to their smash song Wannabe, the video shows old footage of the women before they were famous laughing and joking around together as they practised their dances and performances.

The group are dressed casually, and they shared the footage on social media as they thanked their fans for their support over the years.

They said: “Today marks the 30th anniversary of the very first Spice Girls auditions! What started back in 1994 has turned into an amazing journey, way beyond anything we could have ever imagined. Thank you to our fans for your support from day one #FriendshipNeverEnds”.

Wannabe was finally released in July 1996 and went on to spend multiple weeks at number one in the UK, and to win best single at the Brits the following year and an Ivor Novello award.

In total, the group notched up nine UK chart-toppers and sold more than 100 million records, making them one of the most successful British acts ever.

They went on a break in 2000, but returned in 2007 for a massively successful worldwide tour.

A special London Olympics appearance followed in 2012, and there was a second reunion tour of the UK and Ireland in 2019, which Victoria Beckham didn’t join due to commitments with her fashion business.

In January, the five women were honoured with a set of stamps to mark the 30 years since the band began.

The video’s release comes as Geri Horner has found her husband, Red Bull boss Christian Horner, in the public eye in recent days as he was accused and investigated over allegations of coercive behaviour, before being cleared.

The couple, who married in 2015, were seen walking hand-in-hand and shared a kiss at the Bahrain Grand Prix, as Christian Horner said he “absolutely” expects to remain in charge of the F1 team.
