Four-month-old baby dies after collision between van and taxi

A four-month-old baby has died after a collision between a van and a taxi in Leeds.

A Vauxhall Vivaro van was involved in a head-on crash with a Toyota Auris at about 4.55pm on Monday afternoon.

The child suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, but passed away on Wednesday.

Two women in the Toyota car and a man who was in the Vauxhall van were also treated in hospital.

The 54-year-old man driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was released on bail on Wednesday as enquiries continue.

West Yorkshire Police said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has footage that will assist this investigation is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101, or by using the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website.”
