Jamie Lynn Spears has said she is “taking some time to recover” after leaving the I’m A Celebrity jungle early.

The star, sister of Britney Spears, left the ITV show on medical grounds, becoming the second celebrity to do so after food critic Grace Dent.

In a statement on Instagram, her first since leaving the show, the 32-year-old said: “I can’t wait to share with y’all everything about this once in a lifetime experience, but I don’t even know where to start when trying to describe what an incredibly special time and place I had with some of the absolute best humans I have ever met and consider family now.

Spears had threatened to quit last week after just a few days in the jungle, becoming emotional as she was missing her two daughters.

During the 21 November episode she told her campmates she was finding it difficult to be so far away from her family.

She also discussed her relationship with her sister Britney, who she said she had talked to before entering the jungle.

She said the pair had a “very complicated upbringing” which led to them having issues with each other.

The star also discussed the challenges she faced after falling pregnant as a teenager while starring on TV series Zoey 101, and how she became Catholic after her daughter survived a freak accident where she nearly drowned in a family pond.

Dent’s statement following early exit

Spears’ departure came just days after Dent’s exit from the show, also on medical grounds.

Dent also released a statement on Thursday, saying she was “overwhelmingly sad” about leaving, and adding: “I didn’t go out as I planned or I wanted, but I did what I could, and I did it in a siren red gel manicure without chipping a nail.”

Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage, First Dates star Fred Sirieix and JLS singer Marvin Humes are among the other celebrities taking part in the show this year.
