Sir Rod Stewart has kept to his word and paid for patients’ scans at an Essex hospital, after making the pledge during a Sky News phone-in on the NHS.

The singer told Sky’s Sarah Jame Mee he wanted to prove he is not “all mouth and trousers” and is hoping others follow in his footsteps.
