Britney Spears’ ex-husband to go to trial after ‘crashing’ her wedding

There is enough evidence against Britney Spears’ ex-husband – who turned up unannounced at her Los Angeles home and attempted to crash her wedding to Sam Asghari – to go to trial on a felony stalking charge, a California judge has found.

Jason Alexander previously pleaded not guilty to the charge as well as to trespassing, battery and vandalism.

At a two-hour preliminary hearing on Monday, Ventura County Judge David Worley ruled the 40-year-old should be held to answer on the charges, court records showed.

Security guard Richard Eubler told the court Alexander got inside Spears’ home and tried to enter her bedroom which she was locked inside at the time, according to multiple media reports.

He confronted Alexander and they reportedly got into a struggle.

Alexander had also tried to enter the property in the days before the wedding, he said.

Spears, 40, and her fitness trainer partner Asghari, 28, wed in an intimate ceremony in California on 9 June in front of several dozen guests including Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton and Madonna.

Alexander posted an Instagram Live story on the day from outside Spears’ property in which he said he was there to “crash” the wedding, before he was arrested by police and taken to a local jail.

His lawyer, Sandra Bisignani, argued there was no evidence he had any intention of harming Spears.

He remains on $100,000 bail until his next court hearing on 12 July.

Alexander, a childhood friend of Spears, was married to the singer briefly in 2004 and was her first husband.

However, the union was annulled after three days.

Spears and Asghari met on the set of the video for her 2016 song Slumber Party and got engaged in September 2021 as her conservatorship looked to be coming to an end.

The controversial legal arrangement that controlled her life and finances was terminated by the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Spears had previously been married to Kevin Federline, with whom she shares teenage sons Sean and Jayden.
