Labour tweets second attack ad against Rishi Sunak despite ‘gutter politics’ row

Politics

The Labour Party have released a second advert attacking Rishi Sunak just hours after being accused of “gutter politics” for targeting the prime minister personally.

Yesterday, the party’s Twitter account released an advert claiming Mr Sunak does not think child sex abusers should go to prison.

The tweet on Friday afternoon suggests the prime minister is soft on gun crime.

The first tweet was criticised by Labour’s own MPs.

Conservative peer Baroness Sayeeda Warsi also condemned Labour’s tweet while hitting out at her own party for triggering an “appalling fight into the gutter”.

It pointed to data from the Ministry of Justice showing that 4,500 adults convicted of sex acts on children avoided a prison sentence since the Conservatives came to power in 2010.
