Anti-Kremlin activist: ‘You must understand Russia is not Putin’

Dmitry Ivanov, an anti-Kremlin activist, has been jailed for over eight years after criticising and publicising the invasion of Ukraine on social media, in an act Russia calls “misinforming”.

Last year, the Kremlin passed a law making it illegal to publish what it says is false information about its war in Ukraine – which it calls a “special military operation”.
