Adele has told fans she feels “a million miles away from home” and has “never been more nervous” ahead of the opening night of her previously postponed residency in Las Vegas.
The British star’s original run of performances at the Caesars Palace hotel was called off at the 11th hour in January, with the star in tears as she announced the show was not ready due to problems caused by COVID.
Now, Adele‘s Vegas residency takes place from 18 November to 25 March 2023, taking in the 24 rescheduled shows plus eight extra gigs, and thousands of fans are expected to turn out for the first night.
Sharing a rehearsal picture with her 50.9 million followers on Instagram the day before her first performance, the singer wrote: “I’m feeling all sorts as I write this. I’m highly emotional, incredibly nervous but can’t sit still because I’m so excited.
“I feel a million miles away from home, I can’t stop thinking about when I was little and saw Tom Jones in Mars Attacks and thought blimey how did he get from Wales to Las Vegas!?
“I always get scared before shows, and I take it as a good sign because it means I care and means I just want to do a good job.”
She went on to address the delay, as well as her show at London’s Hyde Park earlier in 2022, writing: “Maybe it’s because I didn’t start when I was supposed to.
“Maybe it’s because it’s opening night, maybe it’s because Hyde Park went so great, maybe its because I love the show I don’t know. But it’s safe to say I’ve never been more nervous before a show in my career, but at the same time I wish today was tomorrow! I can’t wait to see you out there x.”

Ahead of the original opening date in January, Adele released a tearful video telling fans the show had been “absolutely destroyed” by delivery delays and coronavirus and so had to be called off.
She said her production team had tried “absolutely everything” but it had been “impossible”.

In an interview afterwards she said she “definitely felt everyone’s disappointment” and had been left “devastated” herself to have to make the decision, but that she had no choice.
Following a break, Adele returned to the public eye towards the end of 2021 with the single Easy On Me and her fourth album 30, which has now been shortlisted for the best album prize at the 2023 Grammys.
Her set at the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park was her first public UK concert in five years, following her headline set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2016.
